"Crane's Flight on a Golden Canvas" is a 12" x 14" painting portraying the captivating scene of a crane with its wings elegantly outstretched, captured in motion. This piece, painted with gouache on handmade 100% cotton ivory paper, brings the sandhill crane's majestic presence alive.

The crane, detailed in differing shades of grey with a touch of red on its head, symbolizes perseverance and resilience—traits echoing the history of Indigenous peoples. The vibrant, textured yellow backdrop injects energy into the scene, emphasizing the bird's inherent elegance and grace. Dynamic brushstrokes impart a sense of lively movement.

Sandhill cranes are among the oldest bird fossils in North America, dating back ten million years. Their migratory path includes Texas, where they take refuge along the Texas coast during winter. This connection to my geographic and cultural surroundings inspired the painting’s concept.
