Striations is my newest piece. It measures 10.5" x 13" and is crafted with Caran d'Ache Wax Pastels.

This artwork presents a vibrant landscape, inspired by the rugged interior of Oklahoma. The scene captures a canyon, layered with earthy reds, oranges, and browns. In the foreground, angular rock formations and deep, rugged textures convey the land's raw beauty. A distant horizon is suggested by varying shades of blue in the background, creating a stark contrast with the warm tones below.

The focus of Striations lies in its bold coloration, which emphasizes the dramatic contours and depth of the canyon. This approach aims to highlight the striking contrast between the land and sky and the enduring power of the landscape itself. The process of creating this piece was intuitive, allowing me to explore the expressive capabilities of the medium.
