Cat Colony, crafted using gouache on a 14" x 18" surface with a backer board and wire for easy display, showcases three stylized cats stacked vertically against a deep blue background. Each cat is distinct in color and expression: the top one is a pale pink, the middle cat boasts an orange hue, and the bottom cat is a striking black with bright yellow eyes and green inner ears. The bold outlines and simple shapes create a whimsical and expressive style.

This painting is part of my ongoing series of humorous, stylized cat portrayals. Exploring this theme, Cat Colony aims to capture the unique personalities of each feline while maintaining a playful and vibrant aesthetic. The deep blue backdrop contrasts vividly with the cats, enhancing their striking features.

Working on Cat Colony offered an opportunity to experiment with color interactions and stylized forms. The process was about balancing simplicity and expressiveness to convey the charm of these whimsical creatures.
