Little Blue Eye is part of my collection of artwork, created using gouache on a 12" x 14" handmade paper. This piece centers on the head of a horse, with colors predominantly in shades of blue and green. The horse's light-green head merges into darker green accents along its detailed mane, flowing effortlessly into the blue and green background. The background resembles an aurora, adding a dynamic feel to the piece.
Conveniently mounted poster style on a backer board ready to hang.
The focal point of Little Blue Eye is the horse's strikingly dark, almond-shaped eye. It offers a sharp contrast against the softer hues, drawing attention amidst the swirling colors. The border of this work is unique, transitioning from a worn, parchment-like frame to a vibrant blue edge, further highlighting the horse's presence.
What sparked the creation of Little Blue Eye was a fascination with how expressive and emotive color can be in figurative and animal studies. This artwork stands out due to its particular color palette, which I meticulously selected to evoke emotion and movement within an abstract style.
In Little Blue Eye, I've aimed to encapsulate the essence and spirit of the horse using expressive brushstrokes and contrasting colors. The interplay between colors and forms is meant to engage viewers with a sense of movement, inviting them to explore the depth and emotion within this singular gaze.
