This work draws direct inspiration from the Deep South Rainbow Swamp, a place known for its rich color shifts and unique ecosystem. My intention was to translate the swamp’s quiet vitality and layered complexity into a visual symphony of light and color. The title reflects both the natural brightness that falls like music across the scene and the harmonious interplay of elements within the landscape.

Using gouache allowed me to work with intense, opaque pigments while maintaining control over details and layering. The medium’s versatility made it possible to balance bold color blocks with subtle reflections and textures, capturing the subtle nuances of water, root, bark, and sky. Throughout the process, I focused on building depth through contrasts rather than fine realism, allowing the colors themselves to convey mood and presence.
