I plan to begin a series of figurative work and writing about humanities inculcation of creation and destruction in cultural ritual and practice and in the stories they tell about humanity. The first of these, Grace of the Hula ʻAuana, is an exploration of cultural continuity and expression through movement. It reflects my ongoing interest in how dance serves as a living narrative, connecting history, identity, and emotion. I aim to honor the dancers’ grace & shared heritage expressed in Merrie Monarch a celebration of Polynesian vitality and artistry.
